The wonderful Aragonese Castle of Otranto, historically devoted to art exhibitions, hosted from May 27th to September 30th, 2012 about fifty works by Andy Warhol<\/strong>, undoubtedly the greatest interpreter of Pop Art, with the exhibition “Andy Warhol. I want to be a machine <\/em>“.<\/p>\n

Foodismo<\/a> wants to pay homage to this fantastic exhibition of Otranto, which was curated by Gianni Mercurio (known scholar of American art) and which has collected and brought to Salento  about 50 works<\/strong>  created by the great American artist with the technique of silkscreen printing, one of the main themes of his aesthetics, coming from private Italian collections.<\/p>\n

The Aragonese Castle of Otranto<\/strong> has hosted in its walls the sturdy works of famous Warhol, such as Marilyn, Campbell’s Soup, Electric Chair, Falce and Hammer, Dollar Sign and many others.<\/p>\n

The rooms of the Castle are not new to art: after hosting works by Joan Mir\u00f2, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dal\u00ec<\/strong>, they have also seen the predominant figure of the Pop Art movement, as well as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n

More than 50 thousand people attended the exhibition, a resounding success for the Municipality of Otranto and the whole of Salento.<\/p>\n
